It is unsurprising that Kingston University holds a great deal on Into the Woods within the Society Archive. The Archive features numerous programmes, playbills and posters of performances of the musical, both professional and amateur, with many of the programmes featuring articles on the origins of the show and the fairy tales that inspired it. There are also press cuttings on the show including reviews, and other items of memorabilia.
A particularly fascinating item is a volume of Grimm’s fairy tales dating from 1894- the Grimms’ gruesome interpretation of the classic stories inspired Sondheim’s version.
Recent additions to the Archive also include the screenplay and press information for the new film.
