Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhal has confirmed that he will be appearing in a one-off concert version of Sunday in the Park with George to be staged at the New York City Center on 24th October this year.
The 35-year-old actor, who wowed audiences in a two-night Encores! Off-Center concert staging of Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s Little Shop of Horrors at the same venue in 2015, will star as George Seurat, although as yet no other names have been attached to the gala event.
The New York Times theatre critic Ben Brantley described Gyllenhall as “one of the few American movie stars who was also clearly meant to be a stage star. (Can we keep him?).” and the event – in honour of philanthropist Adrienne Arsht – is sure to be a sell-out.
Tickets start at $75, while benefit table prices range from $2,000 to $15,000. Both can be booked here.
