The US production of Into The Woods brought to life in New York by Fiasco Theater in 2015 is coming to the Menier Chocolate Factory between 1st July and 17th September this year. The award-winning show, directed by Noah Brody and Ben Steinfeld and with musical supervision by Matt Castle, will feature a cast of just 10 and includes all but one of the original US cast.
The pared-down – and therefore highly inventive – Fiasco version first opened off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre, where the 20 different parts (including the fake Milky White) were played by a cast of 10 with some additional acting contributions from the musical director. The show went on to win the 2015 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Revival.
Tickets are on sale now at the Menier Chocolate Factory box office, but members should look out for a special discounted offer for the matinee of Saturday 27th August, when we’ll also be having an exclusive Q&A with the cast and creatives.
If you can’t wait til then, check out this video previewing Fiasco’s Into The Woods at the Roundabout Theatre Company from 2015. It gives you a delicious taster for this group’s off-the-wall and creative approach. We particularly like seeing Milky White’s reaction when Jack forgetfully introduces the Baker as the Butcher – a beautifully observed opportunity for comedy that’s rarely “milked” in other productions.
