With just 11 days to go until the close of 2015, the Trustees and Administrators of The Stephen Sondheim Society would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
We’ve had a busy year, dominated for us by the ninth annual Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year competition – congratulations again to Erin Doherty, and thanks to host Michael Xavier and special guest performer Elaine Paige – and of course Hey, Old Friends!, our gala at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. We also enjoyed a lovely Sunday afternoon at the home of our Treasurer David Oldcorn and his wife Pat for our annual Garden Party.
Next year is already shaping up to be even more filled with Sondheim than this year. Check out the Events listing to find out what we’ve got coming up. We’ve secured tickets for, among other things, Into The Woods at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester, an exclusive all-member showing of Road Show at London’s Union Theatre (which will include an aftershow Q&A), Bernadette Peters (one of our patrons) at the Royal Festival Hall, and Passion in Paris, courtesy of the Théâtre du Châtelet. I hope you’ll be able to join us for one, some or all of these events.
Finally, look out for our new range of Sondheim-inspired mugs in our Shop – it’s too late for a Christmas delivery but don’t let this stop you ordering! Profits from the mugs go to funding our activities, and every penny helps.
All the festive best
