The Phil Willmott Company has announced the cast for its upcoming production of Road Show at The Union Theatre in London, and among them is SSSSPOTY alumni Howard Jenkins.
Promoted as the “First UK Production” of the Sondheim/Weidman musical, Willmott’s Road Show runs from 3 February until 5 March 2016 and features Howard Jenkins and Andre Refig as, respectively, Addison and Wilson Mizner. In the role of love interest Hollis is Joshua LeClaire.
Howard will be known to members of The Stephen Sondheim Society for making it to the finals of our 2011 Student Performer of the Year competition. Since then, after finishing a post-grad at the Royal Academy of Music, he played Georg Nowack in She Loves Me at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre (2012) and Warren in On A Clear Day You Can See Forever at The Union (2013). In April 2014, he was also the featured artist in the Society’s An Evening With… cabaret at the Leicester Square Theatre Lounge.
The Society has booked out the Union for the matinee performance on 7 February, which will include an exclusive Q&A. Find out more in Society Events.
The Union has had much sell-out success with Sondheim in the past, most recently with Michael Strassen’s stripped-back Pacific Overtures. Road Show debuted in the UK with a transfer and re-shaping of John Doyle’s original New York production at the Menier Chocolate Factory in July 2011, but this new version is the first to originate with a UK company.
