Students from the London College of Music will be presenting two Sondheim musicals (well, one and half) over the coming months. First up is the Bernstein-Sondheim collaboration West Side Story this December as part of the college’s Shakespeare 400 Festival. The production will boast a cast of 43 students at Weston Hall, University of West London, St Mary’s Road, Ealing, from 7th to 17th December.
From the LCM website:
As part of UWL Shakespeare400, LCM BA Music Theatre present the world’s greatest love story in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre’s finest accomplishments. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the “American” Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.
